LACLEDE Spring Tire Chain Adjuster, Size: #4, For Use With: Tractor/Grader A rubber or spring tensioner that pulls the chain tight against the tread and keeps it there. Size it to the rim, and re-check tension after the first few hundred feet. Fit chains on a level surface with the vehicle stopped, drive a short distance and re-tension before continuing - a loose chain is what destroys fenders, air lines and the chain itself. Observe local restrictions: V-bar and studded chains are prohibited on some roads.
